Corporate events in Uzbekistan: how to plan an incentive, a conference or a team off-site

Corporate events in Uzbekistan are what we plan as a local operator in Tashkent, from a two-person executive trip to groups of 100 and more.
Here is how MICE in Uzbekistan works in practice: which city suits which format, how far ahead to start, which season to choose and how a group moves around the country.
Why Uzbekistan for MICE
Anyone planning a company trip asks three questions: how people get there, how they get in, and what they will see that they have not seen before.
- Flights. Tashkent is the main international gateway, with direct flights from Europe, Turkey, the Gulf and Asia; Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench, the airport for Khiva, also take international flights. Routes by country are in our flights guide.
- Entry. Citizens of about 90 countries enter Uzbekistan without a ,Entry rules depend on your passport. Once you are here, each stay must be registered within three days, and hotels do it for you; customs and registration rules are in our guide. - A proven host. Samarkand hosted the UN Tourism General Assembly in October 2023 and the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference from 30 October to 13 November 2025, the first held outside Paris since 1985. Its main venue was the Congress Center of the Silk Road Samarkand complex.
- The programme between sessions. Historic Samarkand, Bukhara, Did you know? Which city for which event

Each city works at a different scale, so we match the format to the place rather than the other way round.
- Tashkent: conferences and arrivals. The capital has the most hotel rooms and the largest halls. The Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan”, opened in 2009 in the city centre, has a main hall for up to 2,500 people, and the international chain hotels have their own ballrooms and meeting rooms. Most international flights land here, so it is the easiest place to start. Ideas for a free evening are in Evening Tashkent.
- Samarkand: incentives and big moments. The Registan, the Silk Road Samarkand complex with its congress center and hotels, and short drives between them. This is the city for a gala night and a reward trip that people talk about afterwards.
- Khiva: one compound for the whole group. The old town, Itchan Kala, has small hotels. ,A new tourist complex on the shore of Lake Govuk, a short drive from Itchan Kala, opened in May 2025: 17 hotels and guest houses, a 3,000-seat amphitheatre, restaurants, a bazaar under domes and a canal with gondolas. Formats: incentive, conference, team building

- Incentive trip. A reward for top performers, dealers or partners: premium hotels, the old town at first light, and one evening that becomes the story of the trip. Our Khiva Gala incentive programme is four days built around a gala night at Arda Khiva.
- Conference or sales meeting. Sessions in a hotel in Tashkent or Samarkand, then a programme for the afternoons and the days after. In Conference + Mountains a conference day in Tashkent is followed by a team day and a night at Amirsoy or Beldersay.
- Team building. Our city quests, Did you know? Gala dinners and evening programmes

Evenings are where a company trip turns personal. These are the ones we organise for groups:
- Folk show in Samarkand. Nine performers and 30 minutes of wedding rites, the plov dance and the Khorezm ,Did you know? - Wine tasting. At the Bagizagan winery in Samarkand or a private estate near Tashkent.
The desert near Khiva for groups

For a group in Khiva, the Karakum desert gives the trip its most unusual evening. It runs from about 17:00 to 22:00: a desert excursion and the «Desert Sunset» show, a «Khorezm set» dinner and two experiences of your choice, such as archery, a tandoor flatbread masterclass or, in season, a tasting of seven kinds of melon. For groups from 10 people there is a theatrical show, «Legends of Ancient Khorezm», and the evening can continue as a night in comfortable traditional yurts. Details are in an evening in the Karakum desert near Khiva.
How far ahead to plan
The bigger the group and the busier the season, the earlier you need to start. As a rule of thumb:
- A conference of 100 people and more: 6 to 12 months, because the hall and a block of rooms in one hotel are booked together.
- An incentive trip of 20 to 80 people: 3 to 6 months; for spring and autumn, closer to six.
- An executive trip or a small team: from a few weeks, depending on hotel availability.
- Trains: Uzbekistan's high-speed train: Tashkent to Samarkand in about 2 hours 10 minutes, Tashkent to Bukhara in about 4 hours. Tickets are tied to your passport. Read more → tickets go on sale up to 60 days before departure and are issued to a passport, so we need the passenger list with passport details early. We buy as soon as sales open.
Send us your dates and group size at the start, even if the agenda is not final: the first things to secure are hotels and venues for your dates.
Seasons
Spring, from March to June, and autumn, from September to November, are the main seasons for city programmes: in Tashkent the average afternoon is about 22 °C in April and October. They are also the busiest months for hotels. July and August are hot, about 36 °C on a Tashkent afternoon, so we plan outdoor activities for the morning and evening and take teams up to the mountains. Winter is quiet in the cities, a good time for conferences, and the season for ski days at Amirsoy. Month by month: weather in Uzbekistan by month.
Moving a group around the country

- High-speed trains. Afrosiyob runs from Tashkent to Samarkand in about 2 hours 10 minutes and to Bukhara in about 4 hours. Seats for a whole group on one train need early booking. The high-speed train to Khiva does not leave Tashkent on Sundays. More in our guide to trains in Uzbekistan.
- Flights. For Khiva, a domestic flight to Urgench saves a long day on the road.
- Transfers. Coaches and minibuses sized to the group and its luggage. Stations are outside the old towns, so every arrival needs a transfer.
- Registration. Hotels register foreign guests at check-in. Nights in yurts or guest houses are registered too, and we check how before we book. See registration and customs.
