Our take: how many days you need
One day covers Penjikent and the Seven Lakes as an extension from Samarkand. For a proper mountain trip we have a 4-day jeep expedition to the Seven Lakes and a 5-day tour; the 12-day route combines the mountains with the Silk Road.
