Chimgan, Beldersay, Amirsoy: what is what
Chimgan is the name everyone in Tashkent knows. It sits about 85 km east of the city in the spurs of the Did you know? The Chimgansay and Beldersay rivers start on its slopes. Chimgan is a year-round place: snow and skiing in winter, hiking from spring to autumn.
Beldersay is a separate ski area 5 km from Chimgan, on the slopes of Mount Kumbel. Amirsoy is the newest of the three: more than 900 hectares on the same Chatkal spurs, 65 km from Tashkent, built as an all-season resort with gondolas running since 2021.

Lake Charvak and the national park
Charvak is not a natural lake. It is a reservoir behind a 168 m stone dam on the Chirchiq River, built between 1964 and 1970. It holds 2 km³ of water from the Pskem, Chatkal and Koksu rivers and sits between three ranges: Ugam to the north, Pskem to the east and Chatkal to the south. About 150 archaeological sites went under the water; archaeologists studied them before the flooding. The name comes from the Persian for "four gardens".
The shore villages, Yusufkhona, Burchmulla, Nanay, Chorvoq, Sijjak and Bogiston, are where Tashkent spends its summer: dachas, guesthouses and tapchans by the water. Yusufkhona is also the local paragliding spot.
Chimgan lies within the Did you know? Gondolas run 09:00–19:00; the ski season is mid-December to late March.

Dress for real winter. In January the Chimgan station averages a daytime high of 1.2 °C and a night low of −5.6 °C, while in Tashkent it is still above zero in the afternoon.
