Tashkent to Almaty and Astana: airlines may now fly up to 60 times a week on each route
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to allow up to 60 flights a week on each of the Almaty to Tashkent and Astana to Tashkent routes. On other routes between the two countries the limit rises from 14 to 20 flights a week. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport announced the agreement on 5 November 2026, after talks between the two aviation authorities in Tashkent.
What changes
These figures are limits on how many flights airlines may operate. The announcement gives no start date and does not say which airlines will add flights.
What it means for your trip
Once airlines add flights, guests from Kazakhstan will have more departures to choose from, and so will anyone combining Uzbekistan with Almaty or Astana. Our guide to Uzbekistan tours from Kazakhstan covers flights, the train and the border. For a longer route, see tours of Uzbekistan and its neighbours. We can meet you at the airport with a Tashkent transfer, or start with the 8-day classic Uzbekistan tour.
