ARAL SEA Yurts

*YURTS – nomad houses, each yurt for 4-6 persons, women and men separately. Camp has only 5 yurts for 2 persons, please inform about yurt for 2 persons in advance. Tour operation season: 20 APRIL-20 OCTOBER

Day-by-day itinerary

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the airport to take the domestic flight to Nukus (according to the flight schedule) *

Arrival in Nukus and departure to discover the land of the Aral Sea disaster (450 km, 8 hrs), we leave for the land where there is neither telephone coverage nor hotels, it is an adventure trip in a 4×4 Jeep.

Our first stop is in Muynaq. In ancient times Muynaq used to be located right on the shore of the Aral Sea, today it is surrounded by 100 km of dry land. Here we visit the famous Boats on Top, Muynaq Museum, where in a 10-minute video we can learn the whole history of the Aral Sea (in English)

Lunch at a Muynaq GUEST HOUSE (simple food)

Continuation along the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea and arrival at the Usturt Plateau Canyon where we have incredible views of the land of disaster. Afterwards we leave for our Yurt camp (typical nomad houses) near the shore of the Aral Sea.

Dinner at the YURT CAMP (prepared by the camp family)

Rest in the yurts.

Return to Nukus (450 km, 8 hrs), on the way we visit an old caravan-saray “Kurgancha Qala” (13th century), pass through the Kuba village of Ustyurt (old name “Komsomolsk na Amure”), arrive at Lake Sudochie, where we visit an abandoned village of Urga with an old canning factory, a cemetery of those repressed in the Stalin era, and a lighthouse.

Lunch at a CAFE in Kungrad (simple food)

Afterwards we visit the mysterious Mizdakhan Necropolis, where we will find interesting tombs of Karakalpak tradition, “Doomsday Clock of the end of the world”, and the Mausoleum of Nazlum Khan (12th-14th centuries), Mausoleum of Erejep Khalifa and the Ruins of Gaur Qala destroyed by Genghis Khan (exterior visit from the cemetery)

Transfer to the airport to take the domestic flight to Tashkent (according to the flight schedule in the afternoon) *

Arrival in Tashkent, transfer and accommodation at the hotel.
